GPA Clubs provide leadership building events and activities while educating students about the risks associated with premarital sex. The goal of the GPA is to encourage and train students to be abstinence advocates. GPA Clubs also provide a network of support to students who have chosen abstinence. The message promoted by the GPA is that abstinence is the only guaranteed way to prevent STD’s and out-of-wedlock births. The club pledge is ‘I promise to abstain from all sexual involvement from this day until I marry.’ There are 309 GPA Clubs throughout the state.

CURRICULUM CLIP

Do not try to imitate the intimacy of marriage in dating. Sexual activity is never a shortcut to a good relationship. On the contrary, it prevents the relationship from growing and developing normally.
