Rate of sexually-transmitted diseases soars among young Californians
A study published last month in the Californian Journal of Health Promotion reports that in 2005 the rate of sexually transmitted infections for the 15 – 24 age group was 10 times higher than previously believed. In California, abstinence-only education is prohibited by state law and comprehensive sex ed is taught in 96% of schools.

Abstinence works, major national study shows
One of the largest and most comprehensive studies of teen sex education, conducted by Dr. Stan Weed of the Institute for Research and Evaluation in Salt Lake City, shows why abstinence is the most successful method of preventing physical and emotional complications resulting from pre-marital sexual activity. Poll results show older generation’s lack of faith in today’s youth.
According to a new Harris Poll, 56 percent of people ages 18 to 24, and 60 percent of those 25 to 29 think abstinence programs effectively reduce or prevent the occurrence of HIV/AIDS.
